The Lady, The Empress, all you need to know about this tarot card

The Lady, The Empress, Major Arcana and number 3 in the tarot deck, known as The Lady in the Druid Craft Tarot deck. I’ve always found this card to be very grounded and connected to Mother Earth. Throughout all 22 Major Arcana, This is a very unique card. Within this blog, I explain all of my experiences with The Lady, The Empress Card and what I have learnt and what I continue learning from it.

What does The Lady, The Empress Card really mean?

On the deepest level for me, The Lady, The Empress Card represents so much about what we have around us. Notice how she is not only pregnant but she is sitting abundantly with all of nature’s best. Along with holding fruit, flowers and vegetables in one hand and freshly harvested wheat in the other.

I have sometimes even referred to this card as Mother Nature. Furthermore, being respectful to our planet and having respect for all that lives on it. Respecting what is around us and not taking too much only what you need I see this tarot card. And certainly looking at it spiritually being grateful for what you already have.

Without a doubt, this card also shows fertility in those who want to have children. Certainly, if you are thinking about that or considering it is without doubt the right time to do so. As she is young and fertile, even if you need to have IVF or adopt it is the right time.

The Lady, The Empress on a spiritual level

Many of us lack mindfulness in our everyday lives. Today’s society is very materialistic compared to how people lived long ago. Social media, in particular, does not do much good for our minds or souls. It is especially harmful when we see people living what we believe is their best life, but much of it is actually fake.

I truly believe that when The Lady, The Empress card is pulled, it aligns closely with The Hermit. However, The Hermit focuses on delving deep inside oneself, while The Lady, The Empress emphasizes connecting deeply with nature. Instead of being reclusive, it encourages openness and expression in every possible way.

When going through a difficult time mentally, always remember to listen deep within yourself and try to connect to your soul. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. I believe that with strain and mental struggle, it is all a part of our spiritual growth. Life is not meant to be easy for us as we are here to learn different lessons and grow spiritually before returning to the spirit world.

Importantly, if you are setting out on your spiritual journey or psychic development. This card really gives you the nudge that you are going in the right direction. Self-awareness and self-trust are all associated with this tarot card.

The Lady, The Empress throughout history

Throughout history, particularly going back to the 15th century in Europe tarot cards started to become associated more with astrology and mysticism. Adding to this the origins of tarot cards are very shrouded in Mystery. Nobody really knows where they originated from.

Particularly with being known as The Empress she represented temporal power and also a nurturing mother mixed into one. Even though women have not had much luck in the church up until recent times with the Anglican church and Protestantism. During that period of history, the Catholic Church was dominant throughout Europe.

Turn this into active voice

Following on from that into the 20th century she has been depicted, particularly in the Rider-Waite tarot deck sitting in a humble chair surrounded by nature. In contrast to the 15th century when she was seen sitting on a throne with a crown and holding in one hand either an orb or a shield and a sceptre in the other. In modern times she seems to be much more humble and more motherly.
