The Queen of Cups, everything that you need to know about this tarot card

This blog is dedicated to the tarot card the Queen of Cups. The Queen of Cups is one of 16 court cards throughout the tarot card deck. They are also a Minor Arcana and can be very hard to decipher. Importantly, I will do my best to uncover the mysteries and the meanings behind the Queen of Cups so please do enjoy this blog and I hope that it helps you.
The deep meaning behind the Queen of Cups
Deciphering the true meaning behind the Queen of Cups is very controversial. Court cards have many different meanings not only meaning a particular person but a particular personality traits.
However, with the Queen of Cups this does for me suggest sensitivity. Also being a queen as opposed to a princess, she is much more mature and much more life learned. In many cases, age brings experience and knowledge, as many people fear getting older there is one thing you cannot fear which is life experience and knowledge.
Notice how the cup she is holding lines up with the moon. Without a doubt, she is very intuitive and in control of her emotions and spiritual awakening. As well as that she is very patient and allows the spirit world to work closely with her and listen to her intuition.
Patience is something that we must learn. Moreover, this tarot card is very similar to its male counterpart the King of Cups. For me, the Queen of Cups is like everybody’s favourite aunt or grandmother she listens to you and knows exactly what you need to do in any situation.
The Queen of Cups in our everyday life
With all of us, there is the need to understand ourselves on a much deeper level. Unquestionably, no two people are ever the same and for those who believe in reincarnation and me being one is there every incarnation we have is going to be very different.
Being such a dynamic card, the Queen of Cups is extremely humble and self-obedient. Her energy is very much in line with the natural earth. What I mean by this is that she takes very little and gives a lot. Living a non-materialistic and humble life is absolutely fine. Expecting too much of yourself and others can be your downfall.
Undoubtedly, there is always a time that we will suffer from depression or suffer from a misunderstanding within our lives or our souls. Nonetheless, this is all part of our soul’s growth and our reason for being here. I certainly think that a lot of us don’t take the time to really talk to our souls and our well-being.
Self-respect is just as important as respecting everybody and everything else. Within a very materialistic and pressurised society that we live in self-respect seems to be very underestimated.
The Queen of Cups self-respect
Within all of us, there are insecurities and things about ourselves that we don’t like. What’s more, is that the Queen of Cups is for me a very personal card directing usually deeply within the client or whoever is reading the tarot cards for themselves.
Overall, due to the fact that we are living in a very pressurised and quite selfish society humility and humbleness seem to be a thing of the past. Moreover, the feeling of being pressured to look a certain way or act a certain way has never been stronger.
Definitely, the younger people feel that much more I think than the older people. Being a teenager or a younger adult is not always as easy and as fun as it seems.
On the other hand, being who you truly are and sometimes standing out in a crowd can be difficult. Not listening to other people’s opinions about you is something that can be difficult. One of my favourite sayings is I would never take criticism from someone who I would not ask for advice from.
Above all, I don’t think people realise sometimes just how much they don’t respect themselves. The sooner they work that out the sooner they will be able to move forward with their lives much easier.
What the court cards in tarot mean
Put simply, the court cards in tarot are without doubt the most difficult ones to grasp. Mainly due to the fact that they have so many different meanings behind them. They are nothing like the Major or other Minor Arcanas that have much more specific meanings in a tarot card deck.
Within a tarot card deck, there are 16 individual court cards. In my personal deck, the Druid Craft Tarot they are;
- The King of; Cups, Swords, Wands, Pentacles
- The Queen of; Cups, Swords, Wands, Pentacles
- The Prince of; Cups, Swords, Wands, Pentacles
- The Princess of; Cups, Swords, Wands, Pentacles
However, in other tarot card decks, the Prince and Princess cards are known as Pages and Knights. They mean exactly the same thing, but different tarot decks have different names for certain cards.
Typically, they usually represent a specific personality trait and approach to life in an individual. They also can point to people within your life who have specific influences over you and what you need to be aware of about them.
All four suits have the four elements of earth, air, Fire and Water and each of these individual elements means a certain thing. These are;
- Cups = Water, this signifies sensitivity, emotions, intuition, spirituality and imagination.
- Swords = Air, this signifies thought, thought process, change, force, power, courage, and conflict.
- Wands = Fire, this signifies passion, action, confidence, positivity, leadership, ego and ambition.
- Pentacles = Earth, this signifies money, property, spiritual grounding, management, business, work and materialism.
How I learnt to understand the court cards in tarot
As a beginner in my spiritual journey of learning to read the tarot, I struggled with the court cards. As well as that it took me a long time to understand for myself what they meant.
I took on a tarot course and even my tarot tutor told me that she still found them difficult to decipher, even though she’s been doing it for years. Each and every one of us reads the tarot in a different way. So there is no right or wrong way of deciphering and understanding your tarot cards.
Usually, my spirit guides give me the information when I am giving a tarot card Reading. For myself, I don’t rely solely on using the tarot cards and the meanings behind them. I rely on the spirit world if I’m giving a Mediumship Reading sometimes I do use the tarot cards to go deep within a question or sensation I’m having from the spirit world.
Above all, I learnt to understand them mainly through my spirit guides. Every time I give a tarot card reading, I see something different within the tarot cards. Nonetheless, tarot is an ongoing lesson as well as Mediumship is for example you never stop learning.
